NYOS Audition Success!

Congratulations to James Beeston (S4) who was successful in his recent audition and has been offered a place in the Senior Orchestra of the National Youth Orchestras of Scotland playing Viola.

We look forward to seeing him perform as part of the orchestra in the near future.

Senior Drama Production 2017 - Deathtrap

James Gillespie’s High School presents the annual Senior Drama Production. Please come along and see our talented pupils perform the comic play Deathtrap – a one set, two act, five character thriller.
It is sure to be a fantastic performance!

Date: Friday 8th December
Matinee Performance – 1:45pm
Evening Performance – 7:00pm

JGHS Christmas Concert 2017 - Usher Hall - Tuesday 19th December

Please join us at our annual Christmas Concert, again at the incredible Usher Hall. The concert features pupils from James Gillespie’s High School and its six associated primaries.
Items will include wind bands, string orchestras, clarsach and guitar ensembles, pipe band, chamber choir and many various junior and senior choirs.
Repertoire includes Christmas items and also ranges from Scottish traditional to classical and contemporary music.
This is a musical feast for all senses!

Rotary International Young Musician of the Year 2017/18 - Local Heats

This annual competition is open to school pupils of all ages.  Our local heat is hosted at Merchiston Castle School in late autumn. The successful instrumentalist and vocalist progress on to the District Finals at Heriot-Watt University.  The performances are invariably of a high standard and provide young musicians with a valuable opportunity to play before an audience.

If you are interested in taking part in this event please see Miss Shields in the music department as soon as possible for more information. The deadline set for applications is Friday 9th November 2017.

MusicFest 2017
